MEDIA ADVISORY: MU to Host Personal Finance Symposium

WHAT: The University of Missouri Department of Personal Financial Planning will host the sixth annual Personal Finance Symposium. The symposium will feature experts from the field of personal finance discussing topics such as understanding the Affordable Care Act, how to budget in the current economy, and the status of the economy six years after the financial crisis.

The symposium s sponsored by the Office for Financial Success and Center for Economic Education. The Department of Personal Financial Planning is housed in the College of Human Environmental Sciences at MU.

WHO: Speakers include:

  • Robert Weagley, chair of the Department of Personal Financial Planning at MU
  • R. Bowen Loftin, MU chancellor
  • Stephanie Kelton, chair of the Department of Economics at the University of Missouri-Kansas City
  • Jim Fuchs, assistant vice president of the Federal Reserve Bank of St. Louis
  • Thomas McAuliffe, director of health policy, Missouri Foundation for Health
  • Charles Chaffin, director of academic programs and initiatives, Certified Financial Planner Board of Standards, Inc.
