MEDIA ADVISORY: MU Welcomes Incoming, Returning Students with Concerts, Tiger Walk and Midnight BBQ

UPDATE: Due to possible threatening weather, the Jason Derulo concert (Saturday, Aug. 20), will be held inside the Hearnes Field House. MU students will need to have their ID to enter the concert, and backpacks, large purses and coolers will not be permitted inside.
WHAT: University of Missouri officials will welcome new and returning students with several Fall Welcome activities, including Paint the M, Tiger Walk and a concert featuring popular music sensation, Jason Derulo. The activities begin Wednesday, Aug. 17.

Wednesday, Aug. 17
Midnight BBQ
10 p.m. to 1 a.m., Rollins Street in front of the MU Student Center
Thursday, Aug. 18
Campus Picnic and Spirit Rally
5 to 6:30 pm, Mizzou Rec Center
Friday, Aug. 19
Paint the M
9 a.m., Faurot Field. New students will paint the “M” on the north side
of Farout Field, taking part in a Mizzou tradition that dates back to
1927. Participants must wear closed-toed shoes.
Saturday, Aug. 20
Step Forward Day
8 a.m to 2 p.m., Tiger Plaza on Carnahan Quadrangle. Step Forward Day
is a service event where students volunteer at local service agencies and
participate in community service projects. Students should meet at
Tiger plaza to check in for the event that morning.
Fall Welcome concert featuring popular music sensation, Jason Derulo
8 p.m., Rollins Street in front of the MU Student Center, Hearnes Field House
Sunday, Aug. 21 (rain date is Sunday, Aug. 28)
Tiger Walk
6:30 to 7:30 p.m., Francis Quadrangle. Incoming students will walk
through the Columns toward Jesse Hall to symbolically mark their
entrance into Mizzou. Tiger Stripe ice cream will be served.
Concert on the Quad featuring Marching Mizzou
7 p.m., Francis Quadrangle. The public is invited to attend.
