Story Contact(s):
Timothy Wall, walltj@missouri.edu, 573-882-3346

WHAT: A multi-disciplinary group of University of Missouri faculty is currently teaching a week-long educational summer camp for 25 middle-school students, “Biophysics and Your Body.”

In the class, the students are learning how physics relates to the biological functions of the human body. Students are learning about how biophysicists study ears, eyes, skeletal muscles, energy and metabolism, and how researchers study bodily processes that are too small to be seen. Students also will tour MU’s lab facilities.

The goals of the camp are to improve young people’s awareness of how the different branches of science work together and present new career paths to the students.
