MEDIA ADVISORY: MU Officials to Teach Students Coping Strategies

WHAT: Officials from the University of Missouri Counseling Center and Department of Student Activities (DSA) will host a carnival promoting tips on how to cope with stress and other traumatic experiences. The carnival will include many activities and games designed to teach and highlight resiliency along with coping strategies.
Some of the activities include: yoga classes, live music and a dunk tank, with an opportunity to sink some celebrity guests. The carnival is co-sponsored by Jimmy Johns, the Missouri Students Association (MSA), the Graduate Professional Council (GPC) and DSA. DSA and the MU Counseling Center will be offering free sandwiches for students during the event.
The carnival is free and open to MU students, faculty and staff. Students also will be able to obtain information about various campus resources on how to deal with stress and other problems.
The MU Counseling Center promotes the success and growth of individuals in the MU community while fostering personal, intellectual and psychological well-being.
