WHAT:
The University of Missouri Harry S Truman School of Public Affairs will host the Monroe-Paine Distinguished Lecture in Public Affairs. The lecture, “The Institutional Collective Action Framework: An Application to Regional Governance in Europe,” will feature Antonio Fernando Freitas Tavares, associate professor in the school of economics and management at the University of Minha in Braga, Portugal.
The lecture will focus on the problem of regional governance and institutional collective action in European countries and how the Institutional Collective Action (ICA) framework uses collaborative mechanisms to solve these dilemmas. Collaborative mechanisms are classified according to two dimensions: the type of integration mechanism, such as political authority, and the degree of institutional scope: narrow, intermediate or comprehensive.
The Monroe-Paine Distinguished Lecture in Public Affairs was established by a gift from Frederick Middlebush, the 12th president of the University of Missouri, to honor his wife’s parents. The series brings leading policy experts to MU to give public lectures, conduct research seminars, and meet with students and faculty.
