MEDIA ADVISORY: MU Truman School of Public Affairs to Host Monroe-Paine Lecture on Sustainability Defense

WHAT:
The University of Missouri Harry S Truman School of Public Affairs will host the Monroe-Paine Distinguished Lecture in Public Affairs. Peliwe Mnguni, an associate professor in the Graduate School of Business Leadership at the University of South Africa, will give the lecture, “Anxiety and Defense in Sustainability.”
Mnguni’s research interests include leadership, group and organization dynamics, gender and race dynamics, organizational culture, intra-organizational and inter-organizational collaboration, and the psychodynamics of sustainability. She has published papers in numerous peer-reviewed journals and has presented her work at local and international peer-reviewed conferences. Her lecture will focus on her paper, Anxiety and Defense in Sustainability, which highlights the important contribution that systems psychodynamics stands to make to the sustainability project successful. Systems psychodynamics is the practice of psychoanalysis, group relations theory, and systems theory in the study of group and organizational processes.
The Monroe-Paine Distinguished Lecture in Public Affairs was established by a gift from Frederick Middlebush, the 12th president of the University of Missouri, to honor his wife’s parents. The series brings leading policy experts to MU to give public lectures, conduct research seminars, and meet with students and faculty.
