Calendar Item: MU hosts “Haunted Observatory,” ghostly historical scientists will bring astronomy to life

WHAT: With Halloween approaching, scientists from the University of Missouri’s Department of Physics and Astronomy will host a Halloween-themed observatory to teach children about astronomy. The event will feature deceased astronomers from history who will be available to talk with parents and kids as they view the night sky from the observatory. Candy and other treats will be available during the event.
Children will have opportunities to visit the “Hogwarts Astronomy Tower” where they will meet long-dead historical astronomers and literary figures, including Sir Isaac Newton, Galileo and Professor Dumbledore from the Harry Potter novels.
WHO: Parents and children who are interested in learning about astronomy.
