WHAT: The MU International Center is hosting an annual event to encourage students to study abroad and create meaningful ways for students who have studied internationally to process and build upon their experiences. During the event, two students will give brief presentations about Study Abroad—one presenter has returned from time in Spain and the other is currently in Costa Rica. In addition, winners of the 2017 Study Abroad Photo Contest will be announced. Categories include portraits, landscapes, cross-cultural moments, educational moments and Tigers abroad.

MU’s Study Abroad program has grown each year. Last year, more than 1,600 graduate and undergraduate students chose to study internationally. Several aspects of Mizzou’s program make it successful, including its quality, safety, scope and size. In addition, students acquire international experience that helps to distinguish them to prospective employers.

WHO: Speakers include:

  • Barbara Lindeman, director of Study Abroad and assistant director of the International Center
  • Garren Wegener, currently studying abroad in Heredia, Costa Rica, and majoring in business and romance languages
  • Joseph Beible, studied abroad in Alicante, Spain, and majoring in communication

WHERE: Memorial Union, S304

WHEN: 1 – 2:30 p.m. Monday, Nov. 13

NOTE: This event is free and open to the public. Media opportunities for one-on-one interviews will be available, and winning photos will be made available for media use.
