COLUMBIA, Mo. — Gifts totaling $6.9 million during the month of May helped push the For All We Call Mizzou campaign at the University of Missouri-Columbia past the $800 million mark. Fundraisers had hoped to reach this milestone by June 30, the end of the fiscal year, but were able to do so a month ahead of schedule.

The For All We Call Mizzou campaign has generated $800.6 million, more than 80 percent of its $1 billion goal, since the campaign began in 2000. Gifts to the campaign enhance MU's ability to compete nationally and internationally for the best students and faculty, provide broad access for students of all economic backgrounds to Missouri's flagship university and improve programs and facilities.

“The For All We Call Mizzou campaign is an important way for the University to generate support for our students, faculty, programs and facilities,” MU Chancellor Brady Deaton said. “Passing the $800 million mark in the campaign is an exciting time for the University. We're very grateful to the generous donors and supporters who have made, and continue to make, this possible.”

Gifts to the campaign have supported the following areas:

Support Area and Amount Raised

  • Facilities — $119.43 million
  • Faculty — $64.37 million
  • Private Grants — $184.04 million
  • Programs — $261.55 million
  • Students — $171.21 million

A $1,000 gift to the Chancellor's Fund for Excellence pushed the campaign total past $800 million. In May, donors gave a total of $23,446 to the Chancellor's Fund for Excellence. The chancellor uses this money at his discretion to meet the University's most pressing needs.

“Gifts to the Chancellor's Fund are especially meaningful because they show donors have a lot of confidence in the current chancellor and in future chancellors,” said David Housh, vice chancellor for development and alumni relations.

The For All We Call Mizzou campaign hopes to celebrate raising $1 billion in the spring of 2009. For more information about the campaign and details about gifts, see the campaign Web site.
