COLUMBIA, Mo. — Ann Korschgen, vice provost for enrollment management at the University of Missouri, has announced that James Brooks, associate director of financial aid at the Indiana University (IU), has been named as MU’s new director of financial aid, effective
Nov. 3.

“Financial aid often plays a key role in student success at Mizzou. Given that, we are pleased that Jim Brooks, an outstanding leader in the financial aid profession, will be joining us as our next director of financial aid,” Korschgen said. “He comes with the enthusiastic support from his colleagues across the country as well as those who met him while he was on campus. We are looking forward to having him as a part of the enrollment management team.”

Brooks received his bachelor’s degree in sociology at Anderson University, in Anderson, Ind., and his master’s degree in sociology from the University of Notre Dame. From 1999 to the present, he has been the senior associate director in the IU Office of Student Financial Assistance, responsible for grants and scholarship processing. Previously, he served as assistant director for client services and as a financial aid counselor at IU.

“I’ve been looking for a specific type of school, specifically a state, flagship campus,” Brooks said. “I’m very excited to join the enrollment management staff at MU. The financial aid office is in great shape and has had steady leadership for several years. The University of Missouri also has experienced a large amount of enrollment and infrastructure growth recently. After the interview, I came back very excited about this opportunity.”

Currently, Brooks is president-elect of the Midwest Association of Student Financial Aid Advisors. Brooks replaces Joe Camille, who will retire on Oct. 31.
